Two moments in the event





Among the activities carried out for the end of term, a karaoke in the hall of the school was the most "sounded" one.  Attendants could sing out loud a hit-parade for more than two hours.  Many of them seemed not to be afraid of the microphone or the discerning public either.  We had good fun together for a while.  Nice ending for the first term.

"Madiba", Mandela

It was about 10:30 yesterday evening when we knew that Nelson Mandela, “Madiba” as he liked to be called, had passed away.  If it is true that there exists a heaven Madiba is sure to be watching us from the up high, proud of himself and feeling sorry for the so much hard work still to be done.

I started writing these lines with great pain in my heart as mourning tribute to one of the true fighters for human rights throughout history, probably the last one; but I will not.  Why not? Because we must not feel sorrow for his death, but celebrate his life. Many in the new generation do not know what the words “apartheid”, “segregation” or “ghetto” mean; many of them have not even heard of them and the great pain and suffering for so many million people that they have caused, an this is undoubtedly thanks to Madiba's endless struggle.

Maybe it is very easy to type now these lines from my warm comfortable western house in my western world so many kilometres away from the hot place, but we just need to do a simple exercise of memory: if we compare those images we were used to seeing not long ago of criminal behaviour towards the black people living in ghettos, smashed and killed with no mercy by their racist white government; black people who had not even the right to walk along the white side of the street, to enter an office, a cinema, a restaurant, or even a bus (“only for whites”) ... to the images of the last football World-Cup where South-African national team was made up of both black and white players I can only say many many thanks for everything; your fight, your sorrows, your 27 years in prison have not been in vain.  Thank you for the hope that you brought to us.Thanks for your legacy.

Presentation of www.studentsrus.es

Last 4th December the "secret" was at last revealed and many students packed the hall to be present in the final countdown.  After 10 days of wondering what studentsRus is, the pupils of 4º D prepared a really nice presentation during the first break.  After the speech, hundreds of badge-pins with the reverted red "R" were handed out among students.
First of all we'd like to say many thanks to all the attendants and their warm welcome to the event and of course we would also like to thank the acceptance that our magazine has had.  We have received 2000 visitors!!! in this first week.  We count on you all to make this project grow.

Films - Paul Walker

In memory of PAUL WALKER who passed away last Saturday in a Car accident.

He was riding in a Red Porsche GT about 3:30 p.m.  whit his friend Roger Rodas who was driving and lost the control of the sports car and flew away from the road and slammed into a tree in Santa Clarita, authorities and witnesses said. The car burst into flames.

“I ran over afterwards, I was trying to find Roger’s son,” Torp said. “I found out his son had jumped the fence and gone over, he was trying to get his dad out. Paul Walker’s best friend was trying to get Paul out of the car while it was still on fire ... he was trying to save his friend ... there was nothing he could do.”

He lived his life and he died fast and furious today. He loved speed, he loved cars, and he had to die this way. He died in a very fast car with his friend.

Paul Walker will continue forever in our hearts. He lived FAST and died YOUNG.

Junior preferential

In Junior Torrijos, they have a very good team that can fight for the second or third place at their group (Group D). They had a bad start, because they lost two matches that they could have won, but they are always concetrated on the next match. The category has a clear leader, LUJISA GUADALAJARA BASKET, that is the great favourite to win the championship! Other teams are more or less the same level so it will be a very interesting season!
